Cookie Policy
Last updated: 12 September 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Bike Wreckers Ltd, trading as Bike Wreckers ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
We use cookies in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site owner. We also use similar technologies such as pixels, tags and local storage — we refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy.
Cookies may be:
- First-party (set by us) or third-party (set by another organisation, e.g. an analytics provider);
- Session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain for a set period).
2. How we ask for your consent
When you first visit our website, we show a cookie notice with two buttons: Accept and Reject optional.
Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the site cannot function without them. Anything optional is loaded only after you accept — if you reject, or if you leave without choosing, it is not loaded at all.
Your choice is kept in your browser's own local storage rather than in a cookie, so it is never sent to us. You can change or withdraw it at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer, which brings the notice back.
3. Types of cookies we use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the website to work — for example, keeping items in your basket and taking you through checkout. They do not require consent. This is the complete list:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
bw_cart | First-party cookie | Identifies which basket is yours, so the parts you add are still there when you come back | 30 days |
bw-cookie-consent | Local storage (not a cookie, never sent to us) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected the optional items below | Until you clear your browsing data |
3.2 Functional cookies
These would remember choices you make to improve your experience (e.g. region or display preferences). We do not currently set any.
3.3 Analytics / performance cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Loaded only if you accept.
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies: it sets nothing on your device and does not track you between websites. If you reject, it is not loaded at all.
3.4 Marketing / advertising cookies
These would be used to show you relevant adverts or measure campaign performance. We do not use any. We do not advertise through this website and we do not share anything about your visit with advertising networks.
4. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Be aware that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website working. Guidance for common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking the bw_cart cookie will stop the basket and checkout working.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in the law. Any changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
